Corneal diseases are a major cause of blindness responsible for 7.1% of blindness in India. India has 45 lakhs corneal blind people and 60% of them are under 12 year’s age, 30,000 corneal blind are being added each year. The demand for corneal tissue is ever increasing.

• Rural eye donation camp organized by “STAR 2009 NESCO CARNIVAL”and Lions Club of Pudupattinam. Near Kalpakkam Township at Kanchipuram Dist on 01/08/2009 to 09/08/2009. On this day about 500 people pledged their eyes.
• The students of Business Administration department of Annai Therasa Arts & Science College Conducted “Eye Donation Awareness Programme” on 23/09/2009 at 10:00AM On this day about 150 Students pledged their eyes.
• “ST JOSEPH'S CHURCH”Organized by Shri Antoniswamy Parish Priest at Erukkanchery on 10/04/2009. On this day about 50 people pledged their eyes.
• “Rahul Gandhi's birthday on19th June 2010 between.9:30am to 10:00am Mr.Gnadesigan M.P Will be attending the Eye Donation Awareness Programme on this day about 100 people pledged their eyes.
• Eye Donation Awareness Camp Organized by “Apollo Speciality Hospital at Teynampet” on 13/01/2009.On this day about 50 people pledged their eyes.
• Bank of Baroda SIET Branch are going to conduct Eye Donation Awareness Programme on 19/07/2010, at 9:00am . on this day about 150 People Pledged their Eyes.

Celebrity Invite

• Celebrity‘s birthday gift: Actor Riyaz Khan, famous for his role in Tamil movie – Ghazini, pledged for eye donation on occasion of his birthday. The noble gesture of him motivated others to follow his action.

• Doctor’s talk at corporate: Dr. Zainul, Consultant at Avadi centre addressed the Jawan’s at CRPF on eye donation and eye care awareness. Related banners were displayed and pledge forms were filled up by jawans.
