Fellowship Details

The goals of the fellowship are to train the ophthalmologist to have an adequate knowledge of diagnostics of cornea related problems and surgical management of cornea, and to improve their skills in cataract surgery. Surgical hands-on experience will be given for pterygium excision with autograft, penetrating keratoplasty, corneal tear suturing and refractive surgery (Epi-Lasik, LASIK, IntraLASE, SMILE, Collagen Cross Linking, etc). It is also expected that the trainee fellow will be able to handle independent Cornea clinics by the end of the fellowship. Fellowship Certificates will be given at the end of the course. And Outstanding fellows shall be offered Consultancy Posts.

Responsibilities of the Fellow :

  • Develop clinical judgement and surgical skills for excellent patient care.
  • To compulsorily maintain a log-book and to get it duly signed.
  • To be actively involved in post-graduate training.
  • Maintain a cordial relationship with all staff of the hospital.
  • To report to duty punctually.
  • Compulsorily attend Eye Donation Calls and night duties as scheduled.
  • Must attend Journal Club Meeting held weekly and Lectures 2-3 times per week.

Vitreo-Retina Fellowship

MS/DO/DNB in Ophthalmology

Fellowship Details:

The goals of the fellowship are to train the ophthalmologist to have an adequate knowledge of diagnostics of Vitreous ad Retina, to get skilled in medical and surgical management of the same, and to improve their skills in cataract surgery. Surgical hand-on will be given for Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, Medical Retina, retinal lasers for Diabetic Retinopathy, Assisted Peripheral Lasers, Central Lasers, Assisted Retinal Surgery, Assisted Vitrectomies, Intravitreal injections etc. It is also expected that the trainee fellow will be able to handle independent general ophthalmology clinics by the end of the fellowship. Fellowship Certificates will be given at the end of the course. Outstanding fellows shall be offered Consultancy Posts.

The posting schedule of the fellowship will be as follows:

  • 3 month: Induction posting and General Ophthalmology Posting
  • 3 month: ERC Posting (Preop workup, and post-op reviews of cataract patients, supervised and independent training in cataract surgery)
  • Next 12 months will be extensive Vitreo-Retina fellowship which will include:
  • OPD posting, indirect Ophthalmoscopy, Retinal Lasers and clinical teaching.
  • Vitreo-retina Outreach Programmes,
  • Pre-op Workup and coordination of all Vitreo-retinal surgical cases.
  • At least 2 scientific publications to be undertaken
  • Medical Treatment Strategies
  • Basics and Advances of Vitreo-retinal Surgeries
  • Last will be independent consultation in Dr. Agarwal's Retina Foundation

General Ophthalmology Fellowship

Fellowship Details:

General Ophthalmology fellowship program gives comprehensive knowledge of basics like Retinoscopy and subjective refraction, to advanced technologies like Glued IOL and PDEK surgeries. Hands-on surgical training will be given on SIGS, Phaco and IOLs. The fellow will also acquire in-depth knowledge about Cornea, Retina, Uvea and Neuro Ophthalmology in addition to Glaucoma and Squint Corrections.

  • 3 months orientation and refraction posting : Complete workup comprehensive history taking and examination procedures of the patients
  • 3 months OT POSTING : Presurgical workup, IOL calculations, Decision making , Surgical exposure assisted and hands on.
  • 3 months : cornea posting: exposure to Prelasik workup, Orbscans, Anterior Segment O.C.T.,Corneal infection managements, Corneal banking, Transplants workups, assisted PK & Lasik.
  • 3 months : Glaucoma posting
  • 1 month : Posterior segment, Retina posting
  • 1 month : Squint posting
  • 1 month : Oculoplasty posting
  • 4 months : O.T. posting.
