About

Dr. Bhavatharini M is an experienced ophthalmologist with over 12 years of clinical expertise, specializing in advanced cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery.

She completed her basic medical training at JJM Medical College, Davangere (RGUHS, Bengaluru), followed by MS Ophthalmology and DNB Ophthalmology from Joseph Eye Hospital, Trichy. She further pursued a fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment Disorders at Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore. She subsequently worked as a research and clinical consultant at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, in the departments of Cornea and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Bhavatharini is a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO), London, Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS), and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS). She previously served as Network Director of Academics at Pushpagiri Eye Institute, Hyderabad, where she headed DNB and Fellowship programs and played a key role in postgraduate ophthalmic education.

She has mentored 25+ long-term fellows and residents and trained 100+ ophthalmologists in hands-on cataract surgery, including SICS, MICS, and advanced phacoemulsification. An active academician, she has 10+ peer-reviewed publications, authored book chapters with Jaypee and Springer, and has presented extensively at national and international conferences. Her accolades include Best Paper at Keracon 2017 and Dr. Manoj Mathur Best Poster Award at TOS 2017.

Her core clinical and research interests include corneal transplantation, keratoconus, infectious corneal disorders, premium cataract, and refractive surgery.
