The Surgical Learning Curve

Three Phases. Total Transformation.

A structured, progressive pathway — from observation to complete surgical independence.

01

Orientation & Clinical Foundation

The first month focuses on strengthening clinical examination skills, orthoptics, refraction, contact lens practice, and diagnostic evaluation. Fellows undergo structured rotations in Retina, Glaucoma, Oculoplasty, Uvea, and Cornea services while becoming familiar with institutional protocols and patient care pathways.

02

Dedicated Clinical Training

During the initial three months, fellows are primarily involved in outpatient care, gaining extensive experience in pediatric ophthalmology assessment, strabismus evaluation, orthoptic workup, refraction, and treatment planning under expert supervision.

03

Surgical Exposure & Progressive Responsibility

From the fourth month onward, fellows actively assist in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgeries while continuing advanced clinical training. Progressive exposure to surgical planning, perioperative management, and increasing clinical responsibility prepares fellows for independent practice.
