Learn from the Masters
Train under surgeons who have shaped the field of modern ophthalmology in India and globally.
The Surgical Learning Curve
A structured, progressive pathway — from observation to complete surgical independence.
The first month focuses on strengthening clinical examination skills, basic diagnostics, and understanding institutional protocols. Fellows undergo rotations in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Oculoplasty, Uvea, and Cornea, while receiving dedicated training in retinal diagnostics including indirect ophthalmoscopy, fundus biomicroscopy, OCT, Fundus Photography, Fluorescein Angiography, and ultrasonography.
Following orientation, fellows train under retina consultants on a rotational basis, gaining exposure to both medical and surgical retina. Fellows begin hands-on retinal laser procedures from the third month and progressively develop expertise in the diagnosis and management of retinal disorders. Exposure to intravitreal injections begins during the fellowship, with supervised procedural training incorporated into the curriculum.
Fellows actively assist in vitreoretinal surgeries involving retinal detachments, vitreous pathologies, vascular retinopathies, ocular trauma, macular disorders, pediatric retinal diseases, endophthalmitis, and Glued IOL procedures. Based on performance, fellows receive independent surgical training with exposure to 15 or more surgeries, including Scleral Buckling, Vitreous Surgery for Complicated Retinal Detachment, Vitreous Surgery for Vascular Retinopathy, Lensectomy, and Medical & Surgical Management of Endophthalmitis.
