Dr. Karthikeya is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist with advanced training in Vitreoretina, ROP and Uvea. He comes with a solid academic background with an MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (2010), a residency (M.D) in Ophthalmology (2015) from the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi and superspecialty (fellowship) training in Vitreoretina, Uvea and ROP (2018), also from AIIMS, New Delhi. Further, he went to the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London for advanced training in Medical retinal conditions, Inherited retinal diseases and Uveitis (2023).
In addition to the benefits of his rigorous medical and surgical training, Dr Karthikeya brings to his patients the expertise and experience of treating a wide range of patients in a variety of health care settings over the last 10 years. He is known for his communication skills, empathy and empowering patients to be able take decisions about their health conditions. His patience and penchant for details has allowed for very good surgical outcomes in the complex retinal surgeries that he does on a daily basis.
He has over 60 scientific research publications, book chapters and conference presentations to his name and enjoys learning new things every day. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his growing child, Carnatic music, Science, Travel and Politics. He was also the expedition medical officer for the 38th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antractica and has a has lived on Antarctica for 14 months.
